Basic things to know about the Community Health Assist Scheme

CHAS is a community health assistance scheme. The main purpose of this scheme is to provide subsidies from the government to the citizens to take medical care from general practitioners or dental clinics. The motive of this scheme is to provide health care to everyone.

Many people are not able to go to the medical care centers due to poverty. CHAS subsidies help them to take care of his or her health. People get treatment under this scheme for several diseases.

Taking care of individual health is a priority, and it is a government responsibility that every individual get the proper treatment to be healthy. The government can’t provide free treatment to everyone; it is not accountable for the government either. So, they found a scheme to help poor and needy people get proper treatment.

They planned the CHAS card and provided it to every citizen who applied for it. They confirm that every person gets their CHAS card to get proper treatment. They print the card in three colors: orange, blue, and green, based on their economic condition.

Not every person is unable to pay money for treatment; some can be able to pay half of the medical expenses, and some can be able to pay the full amount. So, it is the government’s responsibility to provide an aptable card to the citizen to get health care. The government provides subsidies based on the color of the card they get.
